Event Description We are very pleased to invite you to the first Leading Voices in Public Health Lecture for the fall semester. Dr. David Hunter, Dean for Academic Affairs at the Harvard School of Public Health, will be presenting on: “Disruptive Innovation In Public Health Education: Should We Be Spooked By MOOCs?” This presentation is exceptionally timely and will address one of the “hottest” topics in higher education today—the Massive Open Online Course (the MOOC). Open to tens of thousands of students at a time, at no cost, and not for academic credit, some have suggested that MOOCs will have a fundamental impact on higher education as we know it. Harvard is at the forefront of the MOOC movement, having announced, in May of this year, a national partnership known as EdX. The EdX partners now include MIT, UC Berkeley, and the University of Texas system. One of Harvard’s first two EdX courses is a public health course. The presentation will be Thursday, November 8 at 7:00pm in the 2nd floor ballroom of the Millennium Centre. This is a remarkably timely and important topic, presented by one of the world’s experts. For those of you unable to attend in person, you can livestream. Hope to see you there! |
