JOHNSON CITY (Posted Dec. 4, 2012) – “Fibers: Fiber Art and Artists’ Book” is a group exhibition, curated by Patricia Mink, on display through Dec. 13 at Tipton Gallery for Johnson City’s First Friday celebration.
The public is invited to view the exhibit and meet the artists during the reception Friday, Dec. 7, from 6-8 p.m. The Tipton Gallery, sponsored by the East Tennessee State University Department of Art and Design and the Urban Redevelopment Alliance of Johnson City, is open for viewing on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m. and Fridays from 6-8 p.m., and at other times by appointment.
This exhibition features various techniques and artistic processes in fiber surface treatment and book arts. The works were curated from select classes taught by Mink, who serves as program director for the ETSU Fibers concentration within the Department of Art and Design. The Fibers Club will also sell select, hand-dyed silk scarves and book arts during the reception.
The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Tipton Gallery is located at 126 Spring Street.
