JOHNSON CITY (Posted Feb. 8, 2013) – The faculty of East Tennessee State University’s Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies will perform at Down Home on Wednesday, Feb. 13.
Among the 20-plus performers will be nine-time International Bluegrass Music Association mandolin player of the year and five-time Grammy Award-winner Adam Steffey; Merlefest banjo champions Will Parsons and Brandon Green; United States National Scottish Fiddling champion Jane MacMorran; and 2013 SPBGMA (Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America) Fiddle Player of the Year Hunter Berry.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. Admission at the door is $10 for adults and $6 for students with school ID. The Down Home kitchen will be open and serving dinner.
Bluegrass, Old Time and Country Music Studies is part of the Department of Appalachian Studies in the ETSU College of Arts and Sciences and offers the world’s first bachelor of arts degree in bluegrass, old time and country music.
