| SURFACE: Sherry Murphy Maddox, MFA Exhibition at the Tipton Gallery |

Event Description
The ETSU Department of Art & Design and Slocumb Galleries in partnership with the Urban Redevelopment Alliance (URA) present “SURFACE” installation work by Sherry Maddox Murphy at the Tipton Gallery from January 28 to February 8, 2013. The reception is scheduled on February 1, First Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tipton Gallery.
The exhibition “SURFACE” is Murphy’s MFA exhibit. The exhibit is comprised of over two hundred porcelain objects and naturally colored porcelain slips used as paint. SURFACE presents the artist’s exploration of the natural world and the experiences and memories created during this process that compelled this exhibition. Murphy is an MFA student at East Tennessee State University. She received her BA from Hollins University in Roanoke VA.
The Tipton Gallery is located at 126 Spring Street, Downtown, Johnson City. All events are open to the public free of charge. The Tipton Gallery is open to the public for viewing on Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m., Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m., or by appointment; with extended hours during receptions, First Fridays and scheduled tours.
