Kelsey Holmes Bio
Kelsey Holmes was born in a small town in Virginia called Glade Spring. She was very interested in music from an early age and began performing at the age of nine. Kelsey graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 2010, and was accepted into ETSU’s vocal performance program shortly after. She has been an active member of the ETSU Chorale for 6 semesters, and performed with them during their 2011 concert tour of Hungary and Austria. Some of her favorite musical experiences with the group include performing the Mozart Requiem with the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra, and performing the Brahms Requiem with Dr. Thomas Jenrette, Professor Emeritus. Holmes has been studying voice with Karen Smith for 6 semesters, and has been in Opera Workshop, directed by Smith, for a year. Most recently Holmes performed the role of Giannetta in Donizetti’s bel canto opera L’elisir d’amore. In her free time, she enjoys riding her bike, reading Jane Austen novels, hiking, and traveling.
John Bell's Bio
John Bell found his love for singing during his junior year in high school. He sang in the Jefferson County HS choirs. He started his college education at Walters State Community College in Morristown. Bell did not start studying private voice until he transferred to ETSU. Bell says, “I did not realize how much more there is to singing outside of choir until I started private lessons. There are so many crucial, minute things in lessons that helped me reach the level I am today.” Bell studies with Karen Smith and is in his last year at ETSU. He plans to pursue graduate studies in music and ultimately obtain a doctoral degree. |
