JOHNSON CITY (Posted Feb. 6, 2013) – The Paramount Chamber Players will present “Words and Worlds of Music” at East Tennessee State University on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mathes Hall auditorium.
“Words and Worlds of Music” features works by a variety of composers. Included are two works by American composers: “Old American Songs” by Aaron Copland and “Five Pieces for Two Flutes and Piano” by Kenton Coe. “Suite for 2 flutes and viola,” a rarely heard and unrecorded work by French composer Louis Moyse, mentor of Paramount Chamber Players flutist and ETSU Department of Music faculty member Rebecca Paluzzi, is also included, along with the first piano trio by German composer Robert Schumann.
The Paramount Chamber Players, the Tri-Cities’ premiere chamber music ensemble, strives to promote artistic excellence, provide performance opportunities for Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia chamber artists, and share chamber music with local audiences.
In addition to Paluzzi, members of the ensemble appearing in the program are Mark Davis, voice; Cherylonda Fitzgerald, cello; George Figueroa, violin; Luis Casal, violin and viola; Vicki Fey and Craig W. Combs, piano; and guest Schery Collins, flute.
Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.
