The exhibition “GODSELF” features printmaking and multimedia work by Darnell, it is comprised of two series: Reflecting and Remembering. The works on the Reflecting series include eleven relief prints depicting a narrative of the artist going through a process of self-discovery within the context of spiritual enlightenment. According to the artist, this body of work that started out as self-portrait woodcuts explore his religious history and is “trying to recapture lost photos and memories by creating new ones.” The Remembering series is comprised of several multimedia installations, quilts, prints, and ceramics that further elaborates the narrative from Reflecting. Darnell is a candidate for the Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) at East Tennessee State University. He received his BFA from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO.
