Event Description
JOHNSON CITY (October 4, 2012) — Godefroy Motte, senior vice president, integrated supply chain, and chief regional and sustainability officer for Eastman Chemical Co., will speak at East Tennessee State University to an audience of students, faculty and the public on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 9:45 a.m. His presentation on “Connecting Science and Sustainability” will take place in the Martha Street Culp Auditorium in the D.P. Culp University Center.
Motte’s appearance is in conjunction with Eastman’s partnership with ETSU’s College of Business and Technology to integrate sustainability into the curricula of students majoring in business and technology fields.
Through the partnership, Eastman executives spend time in the classroom discussing the sustainability movement and how it is now a driving force for Eastman and other business organizations. Eastman’s sustainability team executives craft projects around their sustainability-advantaged product portfolio for senior undergraduate and master’s students to analyze and then make recommendations.
Motte, an internationally renowned speaker, was born in France, where he graduated as a chemical engineer. He holds a master’s degree in management from the Sorbonne in Paris and attended the Harvard Business School.
Motte joined Eastman in 1985. Throughout his career, he has gained a wealth of experience relevant to sustainability. He previously served as Eastman’s vice president and managing director for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. His current office is located in The Hague, The Netherlands, where he serves as a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the Advisory Board of the Rotterdam School of Management.
Students, faculty and community members interested in sustainability are invited to attend Motte’s free presentation and to engage in a dialogue with the Eastman executive.
