Event Description

PLEASE NOTE: The start/end date above is NOT the event date. This concert will be held Oct. 20.

JOHNSON CITY (Posted Oct. 4, 2012) – Boston rock band Guster will perform in concert at East Tennessee State University on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m. at the ETSU/Mountain States Health Alliance Athletic Center (Minidome). Doors open at 7 p.m.

Guster is an alternative/indie rock and pop band that formed in 1991 by then-Tufts University freshmen Ryan Miller, Adam Gardner and Brian Rosenworcel. The band’s current lineup includes guitarist Luke Reynolds. In a review of the band’s latest album, “Easy Wonderful,” on allmusic.com, critic Tim Sendra calls Guster “a tuneful, thoughtful and consistently good pop band whose albums are reliably full of sweetly tender lyrics, richly crafted performances, and an overall feeling of warmth and peacefulness.”

An opening performance will be given by Black Violin, a duo of classically trained violinists and their DJ who combine jazz, hip-hop, funk and classical to produce a signature sound that is described on their website as “not quite maestro, not quite emcee.”

Tickets will be available beginning Monday, Oct. 8, at the information booth on the second level of the D.P. Culp University Center between 8 a.m.-7 p.m. ETSU students with valid ID may receive one free ticket at the information booth and purchase up to three additional guest tickets at $15 each; cash and IDBuc$ will be accepted. Public tickets may also be purchased online for $15 each at http://tinyurl.com/etsuguster; VISA, MasterCard and Discover will be accepted online only.
