Event Description
The ETSU Department of Art & Design and Slocumb Galleries present “The Secret Life of Things” MFA exhibit by Maja Savić at the Slocumb Galleries from March 18 to 22, 2013. The artist’s reception is scheduled on Friday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The exhibition “The Secret Life of Things” consists of sixteen illustrations (four of these are digitally enhanced photographs) and one animation that show the artist’s interest in bringing household object to life. The works in the exhibition are characterized as humorous with strong narrative and attention to details. Savić’s ideas are honed by traditional education with contemporary influences. One of the galleries features Savic’s digital illustrations while the other will showcase the video animation of her artist statement, projected onto the gallery walls. Savić is a candidate for the Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) at East Tennessee State University. She received her BFA in painting from University of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia.
The Slocumb Galleries are located at Ernest C. Ball Hall, along Sherrod Drive, ETSU campus. All events are open to the public free of charge. Gallery hours are Mondays to Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with extended hours during receptions and scheduled tours.
