JOB DESCRIPTION:  The Crisis Center located in Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia oversees the sexual assault outreach program and is seeking a qualified student to fill the internship/co-op position for fall 2008 semester.  The position description consists of:

Assisting support staff in projects by producing brochures, information packets, and other educational materials.  Be familiar with Microsoft Word and/or Microsoft Publisher.  Student will fold, post fliers, and distribute agency brochures and information as needed.  Mailing and faxing PSAs (Public Service Announcements), heading or initiating and implementing projects.  Host and attend awareness/educational and volunteer booths as well as community, monthly, and bi-annual newsletter on Microsoft Publisher, researching sexual assault laws, grant research and writing.  Perform miscellaneous administrative/clerical, i.e. updating referral manual.

SALARY: VOLUNTEER

HOURS: 10 – 19 hr/pr/wk

JOB DESCRIPTION:  City of Bristol, Tennessee Community Development Department is seeking a qualified student to fill the Community Development intern position for fall 2008 semester.  The primary job duties include document scanning, data storage, and filing.  Specifically, scanning building and/or site plans and saving them to the permitting software to the geographic information system.  Some of the plans will involve current projects and others will involve archival data storage.  The project is estimated to be completed by the end of the calendar year 2008.

Strong computer skills are required.  A working knowledge of Adobe and ArcView is preferred.  Preferred educational background: drafting/design, planning, data entry, or similar course of study. 

SALARY: $ 11.00 pr/hr

HOURS: 20 pr/wk

JOB DESCRIPTION:  Johnson City Public Works Department – Stormwater Division, located on Water Street, Johnson City,Tennessee is responsible for overseeing Johnson City’s NPDES stormwater program and the stormwater utility.  This includes the building and main-tenance of stormwater facilities, mapping and data entry of existing facilities/structures and upkeep of the stormwater billing system.  Johnson City Public Works Stormwater has a co-op/internship opportunity for summer and/or fall semesters 2008.

The qualified student should have a basic understanding of database software including MS Excel and Access, as well as basic knowledge of ArcGIS 9.2.  Their primary duties would consist of data entry, database management, database translation, determining areas on aerial photos using ArcGIS, and field work collecting data on stream outfall locations, impervious areas, and facility mapping.  This position offers experience in the following programs: ASIST Enterprise, ArcGIS 9.2, ArcPad, Trimble Pathfinder, Trimble Terrasync and Google Earth Pro, MS Excel and Access.  The student would also be asked to perform other tasks as are needed around the office.

SALARY: $ 10.00 - $ 12.00 pr/hr (dependent upon experience)

HOURS: 10-40 pr/wk (flexible schedule)
