Welcome to the Department of Biological Sciences at East Tennessee State University. We currently have nineteen full-time and three part-time faculty members offering a wide range of courses including cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, ecology, evolution, developmental biology, neurobiology, and behavior. Our courses help prepare our graduates for careers in industry, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, academics, and other areas. Our graduate program is very active, encompassing a M.S. research degree program as well as a new Ph.D. program in Biomedical Sciences. One of the strengths of our department is the involvement of undergraduate students in research – faculty members enthusiastically accept undergraduates as contributing members of their research teams. Many of these projects result in publications. We firmly believe that the best way to learn biology is to do it!
