1. The Honors Program in Biological Sciences at ETSU is intended to provide an enhanced program of study for talented and motivated students desiring an in-depth analysis of biological sciences.

The Department of Biological Sciences is dedicated to providing a hands on undergraduate research experience that may produce publication quality research. A common feature of all students entering this program is their willingness to commit the time and effort to conceive, plan, and execute an original research project, and to develop the requisite analytical and critical thinking skills to achieve publication quality research. This will be done under the mentorship of the Department of Biological Sciences faculty, adjunct faculty, research faculty or under the supervision of biomedical faculty in the Quillen College of Medicine. This unique experiences is recommended for all serious students who wish to begin a career in research sciences, especially students looking to enter MS, PhD, or PhD / MD programs, or students interested in improving their critical thinking skills in preparation for professional schools. Honors-in-Discipline program requires 18 credit hours of honors level courses for graduation. (Pre-2009 students may graduate with 15 honors credits.)
