Why Study Social Work?

Diversity. Ethics. Empowerment.

Do you want to help people in need? Are you interested in addressing social problems such as poverty and discrimination? Do you believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect? Do you believe that individuals have the right to make choices about their own lives? Are you willing to challenge social injustices wherever and whenever you encounter them? If so, a career in social work may be for you!

Social Work is a unique helping profession because it views people holistically in the context of their families, communities, and society. Within this broad environmental context, social workers take into account a wide variety of issues including mental health, physical health, financial, and relational issues. As a social worker, you will develop skills and abilities to empower your clients to attain their fullest potential.

Social workers work with various populations in many different settings. For example, you can find social workers employed in health and mental health facilities, schools, rehabilitation clinics, private practice, employee assistance programs, correctional facilities, private industry, nursing homes, domestic violence and homeless shelters, hospices, child welfare agencies, and community advocacy agencies.

Do you want to join us in empowering individuals, families, and communities? If so, visit our webpage to learn more about our BSW and MSW programs.
