Why study journalism?

Truth. Information. Integrity.

Our forefathers so believed in the necessity of free speech they considered it worthy of being the First Amendment to our Constitution. Journalists in newsrooms across this country work diligently every day to bring the news to the people so that a free exchange of ideas based on facts can help guide events locally, nationally, and sometimes globally.

ETSU’s Department of Communication has spent over thirty years helping develop the talents of budding young journalists. Students like you who join our program are inquisitive, curious, love to write, and have a passion for current events. Those talents are combined with real-life reporting and editing opportunities that prepare you for a variety of careers such as reporting for news, features, and sports, editing, photography, and news managing. Be part of a profession that gives you an opportunity to see the world, be part of history, and make a difference.
