Student Advisement
If you have completed the Biology Core requirements, or are currently enrolled in BIOL 3100 GENERAL GENETICS, then you should meet with the Department of Biological Sciences for advisement. The Department of Biological Sciences is located in D.M. Brown Hall, Room 125. The department phone number is 423-439-4329. If your last name begins with letters A-M, please contact Dr. Len Robertson at 439-4228 or by email for advisement. If your last name begins with letters N-Z, please contact Dr. Hugh Miller at 439-6922 or by email for advisement. You may check the department web site for additional information.
If you are a General Biology Major, a Secondary Biology Education Major, or a Biology Major with the Biochemistry concentration and have not completed the Biology Core requirements, you will need to meet with Joanna Cyrier for advisement. Her office is in the Advisement Resources Career Center (ARC) on the second floor of the D. P. Culp Center. Contact her via email or at phone number 423-439-5256 for questions and advisement appointments. You must meet with your advisor every semester for help with class selection and major/minor/graduation/ general education requirement checks. Meeting with your advisor can help you answer many of the questions that you will face upon entering your college career and pursuing your academic and career goals.
