College of Arts & Sciences

The Department of Chemistry at ETSU provides analytical services to the other departments at ETSU as well as to industry in our community.

The analytical instruments in the department enable us to analyze a wide range of chemical compounds in different matrices such as water, gasoline, agricultural crops, etc. The instruments in the department are Atomic Absorption, FTIR, HPLC, GC/MS, GC/FID, UV, Fluorimeter,400 MHz NMR, and LC/MS.

We are able to handle short and long term projects. The cost of the analysis is $200 per sample. For long term projects there will be a flat charge depending on the analysis.

Both inorganic and organic compounds can be analyzed and characterized by experienced personnel in consultation with the highly recognized faculty members in the chemistry department at ETSU.

Inorganic Compounds: chloride, fluoride, nitrite/nitrate, antimony, calcium, potassium, sodium, tin, lead, magnesium, copper, nickel, manganese, iron, zinc.

Organic Compounds: ascorbic acid, phenol, methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), pesticides residue analysis.
