Jo Carson

Jo Carson is a writer and performer living in Johnson City, Tenn. She has published plays, short stories, books for children, essays, poems and other work and has won a series of national awards for her plays. For the past several years, she has worked with a numerous communities on projects made of stories from those communities. Carson has written 30 community performance pieces and is working on another. A few of these pieces have traveled and so achieved a wider audience and one story of abuse raised money all over South Georgia for battered women's shelters. Currently Carson is performing Liars, Theives, and Other Sinners On The Bench. Recent work has included creating performance pieces out of oral histories for communities.
