Thank you for visiting the Women’s Studies homepage. Women’s Studies at ETSU is an exciting program that weaves academic inquiry together with a focus on leadership, empowerment, and social change. We continue to enjoy enthusiastic response to our program from students, faculty, and staff all over campus. Women’s Studies has grown from a minor, established in 1993, to a full scale program offering a minor, a major, graduate classes, and campus-wide programming. And we continue to grow and develop. Take a look at the link below for a brief history of the program and a tribute to our foremothers. Thank you to Sheryl Suggs for research and compilation of the Foremothers Tribute.
The Office of Women’s Studies, staffed by a graduate student, tuition scholar, and several undergraduate student workers, is always teeming with projects, event planning, and curriculum development. We have a 13-member WS Steering Committee, which is the decision-making body that guides the academic efforts of the program, and a 35-member WS Network, which is our campus support system comprised of WS faculty and staff advocates across the campus and those who teach WS courses. ETSU is a campus infused with interest in and support for the study of women and gender.
Please spend a few minutes visiting our webpage, stop by our booth at Take Back the Night, the Multicultural Expo, Winter Cruise, the Major Fair and lots of other campus events, come by and see us in Campus Center Building (formerly know as the Old College of Medicine), Room 211 or call us at 439-4125. You also can reach me by email at kinsera@etsu.edu. I would love to talk with you and tell you what we’re up to!
