Tenure and Promotion Information
College of Arts and Sciences
The College of Arts and Sciences provides assistance to faculty applying for Tenure and Promotion. In early May of each year, the College receives notification of eligibility from the Office of Human Resources; eligible faculty should be notified by the department chair by May 15. The completed dossier is submitted to the chair by September 15. More information regarding deadlines is available on the Tenure and Promotion Flowchart.
The guidelines for Tenure and Promotion are found in Section 2.0 of the Faculty Handbook. Included are the Policy on Academic Tenure (2.3) and the Policy on Faculty Promotion (2.4). The College and Department Tenure and Promotion Criteria should be reviewed by eligible faculty.
Forms for Tenure and Promotion are available in the Faculty Handbook. Please note that Tenure Forms should be printed on blue-colored paper; Promotion Forms should be printed on salmon-colored paper. The Dean’s Office provides faculty with 3-ring binders and the colored papers to use for submission of the required forms and completed dossier.
