What is Scribe?
Scribe is one of a number of programs currently available to assist in the collection and organization of research data.
Scribe was selected because of it’s ease of use, excellent capabilities and low cost, (Free!).
Scribe was generated in a university setting by historians for the use of historians.
What Scribe Will Do.
Scribe can assist in the storage, and organization of research data.
Scribe can assist in searching through the data collected by you during the research process.
Scribe can assist in the generation of bibliographies and foot or end notes.
What Scribe Will Not Do.
Scribe will not locate, interpret or collect research data. You must do that.
Scribe will not stop plagiarism. Only you can do that.
Programs do make mistakes. Particularly if there is a loose nut on the keyboard. You are responsible for the generation of bibliographies and foot or end notes, not the computer. Learn the Turabian manual!
Warning: These pages contain large graphic elements, called "screen captures". They are in essence a picture captured from my computer screen. They will appear as smaller windows within the browser window. The buttons are not active, remember it is only a picture! If you experience high anxiety during the presentations just remind yourself that they are only pictures. If you are downloading with a phone modem be prepared to wait for a while, go get your self a cup of Java and relax, (some of the pages can take several minutes with a 28.8 modem).
