The History program at East Tennessee State University is one of the strongest and most vibrant departments on campus, offering a wide range of opportunities to our undergraduate students.  The department offers both a major and minor to undergraduate students interested in history, and serves provides state-required training for those seeking a teaching certificate in social studies or history.  The department also offers an Honors in Discipline program to outstanding students in both the major and minor tracks.  The pages in this section detail the requirements of each of these programs, offer guidance, and seek to to answer commonly asked questions about the undergraduate history program here at ETSU.

The History Department at ETSU also houses an active branch of Phi Alpha Theta , the national history honor society  Undergraduate students in the History Department are encouraged to join Phi Alpha Theta and to participate in the organization's many activities throughout the year.
