Jacob Vines is the editor of The Mockingbird’s 42nd issue. Vines received a B.A. in English from ETSU in 2013, and is now pursuing an M.A. He is interested in American fiction and poetry, 19th-century Landscape Painting, Folklore, critical theory, and, of course, creative composition. Vines has published works in previous editions of The Mockingbird in both poetry and drama. He is currently conducting research for his MA Thesis, which explores connections between the Hudson River Artists and portrayals of landscape in literature in 19th-century America. Vines has spent much of his life in the region surrounding Johnson City, and is drawn to the rich lore of Appalachia.
