Through generous donations from our members, SCSECS is able to give an award of up to $300.00 to deserving graduate students who will be presenting papers at the annual meeting. The purpose of the award is to help defray the costs of attending the conference so recipients can be fully engaged in the conference.
Applications must be received by January 31.
Recipients will be notified before the start of the conference and
will receive the award the night of the closing banquet and plenary
session.
Award rules:
• Applicants must be currently
participating in a graduate program or be within one year
of having received a doctoral degree and without
fulltime employment.
• Applicants must have a paper proposal accepted before applying.
• Recipients of the award are
expected to be fully engaged in the conference, attending the
majority of sessions and plenary addresses.
Applications should include:
• A statement of need
• An explanation of other funding
• A budget
• An endorsement from a faculty member
• A brief vitae that includes a list of conferences
previously attended
• A draft of the paper to be presented
