"Sin By Silence" is a film about women who were imprisoned for
killing their abusers. Despite prison walls, these women
change laws and lives for those dealing with abuse. The women
share their knowledge about the warning signs of abusive
relationships and make it very clear--we are all responsible and
cannot stay silent about abuse.

Vagina Monologues
April 8, 9 and 10, 2010.
The Women's Studies program will be presenting The Vagina
Monologues in April 2010 as part of VDAY ETSU. This
award-winning and world-renowned play is presented at ETSU as a
fundraiser for
Safe
Haven Center in Jonesborough. This event is a
collaboration between Women's Studies, Division of Theatre and
Dance, and the OASIS program.

Film: Absolutely Safe
Thursday, April 15, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, 1st floor of the
Centennial Hall, a viewing of the film Absolutely Safe which "takes
an open-minded, personal approach to the controversy over breast
implant safety. It is the story of everyday women who find
themselves and their breasts in the tangled and confusing
intersection of health, money, science, and beauty." A
discussion will take place after the film.
National Women's Studies
Association
Deadline for submissions for the conference is
March 1, 2010.
The Conference will be held on November 11-14, 2010 in
Denver, CO. The main topic is "Difficult Dialogues." Themes:
Indigenous Feminism; Complicating the Queer; The Politics of
Nation; "Outsider" Feminisms; and the Critical and the
Creative.
