October 4 – 5, 2014

A Two-Day Music Festival Celebrating Male Choristers Throughout the Region

Hosted by First Presbyterian Church in Downtown Johnson City


Men of ALL ages – from students to retirees – are invited to join the festival choir that will rehearse Saturday and Sunday, October 4-5. The group will be led by conductors:

  • Dr. Thomas Jenrette, ETSU Professor Emeritus
  • Prof. Noah DeLong, Milligan College Director of Choral Activities
  • Dr. Alan Stevens, ETSU Associate Director of Choral Activities
  • Dr. Matthew Potterton, ETSU Director of Choral Activities


A special public concert on Sunday, October 5, at 5:00 p.m. will feature the festival men's choir in addition to:

Join us for this extraordinary event!

High School students are WELCOME to attend as individuals. High School directors are NOT required to attend the festival rehearsals in order for their students to participate.

Even if your whole ensemble is not able to attend, please feel free to join the Men in Song festival!

1:15-3:30       Festival Choir Rehearsal

3:45-5:45       Festival Choir Rehearsal

5:45-6:00       Wrap Up


Sunday, October 5:

1:00-3:45       Festival Choir Rehearsal

3:45-5:00       Break; Change into Concert Attire

4:30               Doors Open for Seating

5:00               Men in Song Festival Finale Concert*

Post-Concert Reception in the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall


*Finale Concert attire will be all black or the performance attire of your ensemble. 


 Overnight Housing

Student Housing:  THE MIS LOCK-IN

Available for high school and collegiate men 23 and under. $10.00 per student (Housing and Two Meals)

*The MIS Lock-In will be held in the Lower Brooks Gym on the ETSU Campus. 

*Shower and Restroom facilities will be available, but no towels or toiletries will be provided. 

*One adult chaperone (25 or older) is required for every ten students under 19 years of age. 

*Cost includes pizza party and recreational activities on Saturday night with a continental breakfast on Saturday morning.

*Lock-In participants must provide their own sleeping bag or other sleeping materials.
