Meals

Several Institute activities include meals. These events are listed under Special Activities. Registered students, teachers, and auditors will receive meals tickets for these events as part of their Institute registration. Family members and observers may purchase tickets for these meals on the Institute Registration form.

In addition, meals may be purchased in the university cafeteria Monday - Friday. There is also a snack bar with a picnic area located beside the Music Building. A variety of dining choices are located within walking distance or a short drive, and many restaurants also offer delivery service to campus.

Campus Housing

Luntsford Apartments - Newly-renovated, each apartment is air-conditioned and is equipped with two single beds, linens, a private bath, and kitchenette. Guests must provide their own cooking and eating utensils. Luntsford is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Music building where classes will be held. Single Occupancy - one person per room. Occupant must be 18 or older.

Double Occupancy - two people per room. You may list a confirmed roommate on the registration form or request that one be assigned. If your requested roommate does not attend or the Institute is unable to match you with a roommate, the single occupancy rate will be assessed.

Family Occupancy - This option allows up to four family members to be lodged together in a single room. All occupants age five and over must pay the double occupancy rate. Children under the age of five may stay in the room with their parents at no charge provided that there are two family members paying the double occupancy rate. The apartment is equipped with two twin beds. The additional 1-2 occupants must provide their own sleeping bag and sleep on the floor. In compliance with the Fire Code, cots, additional beds or mattresses may not be added to any room.

If families of three or more prefer to stay in separate rooms, you may request to be put in adjacent rooms or directly across the hall. The Institute will make every effort to accommodate your request.

Hotels

The Carnegie Hotel is located directly across the street from ETSU and is connected to campus by a skywalk. As the official hotel of the East Tennessee Suzuki Flute Institute International, the Carnegie Hotel is offering a special conference rate of $99. When making reservations, be sure to identify yourself as a participant in the Suzuki Institute. For reservations, phone 423-979-6400. Complimentary airport shuttle.

Things to Do

ETSU’s Basler Center for Physical Activity provides Institute participants a variety of activities from swimming, rock-climbing, and yoga to racquetball, tai chi, and fitness equipment.

ETSU is located near the Appalachian Trail, Roan Mountain and Warriors Path State Parks, Davy Crockett’s Birthplace, and the amazing new Natural History Museum, located on a large, active dig site. mountains
