"I receive this award in honor of my late cousin, Belverlyn Hill. If it were not for her suggestion of East Tennessee State University, I would not have even known about this great institution in the mountains, and the wonderful and supportive Social Work Department. I know that there are other students that work diligently to uphold the ethics and values of NASW, and I am grateful to have been nominated and subsequently chosen to receive this recognition and honor by the state of Tennessee. It is my wish that the work I have done to educate myself and to develop my skills as a social worker will ultimately help others help themselves and change lives. I am thankful for my family, fiancé, and friends for their love and support. I am thankful for the faculty and staff of the Social Work Department. I am thankful for this opportunity to be recognized. This feels amazing!" ~Tiara Powell
Tiara continues to embody social work with the challenges she accepts and the steps she takes. Congratulations to Tiara Powell and thank you for your hard work and dedication to the field of social work that continues to be a positive impact in the lives of thousands of people.
