The anthropology minor provides students a fundamental understanding of anthropological perspectives on cultural diversity, human biological and cultural evolution, ancient human societies, and the dynamic relationship between biology and culture. Course requirements:
Students are encouraged to complete SOAA 1240, SOAA 1260, and SOAA 1280 before enrolling in any elective courses. In consultation with an anthropology advisor, students then choose 3 courses (a total of 9 credit hours) from the list below. Guided electives:
Students who minor in anthropology with a sociology major cannot apply credit hours acquired for the Anthropology minor to their Sociology major and vice versa. SOAA 4957 is not always anthropological in scope and content. Students should consult with Dr. Jay Franklin, the acting advisor of the Anthropology major & minor program, before enrolling in a special topics course to ensure that the course will count toward the anthropology major/minor. *** The department now has a major in anthropology. Please let Dr. Franklin know of your interest and send him an email using the link above. *** |
