BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Robert Peplies is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He received his B.S. in Geography
And Geology in 1956 from Northern Illinois College, his M.A. in 1959 from the
University of Georgia, and his Ph.D. in 1968 from the University of Georgia.
In 1959 Peplies joined the Department of Geography at East Tennessee State University.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The Robert Peplies Papers include lectures, book abstracts and reviews, course
work, soil surveys, and maps covering various topics (eg., climate zones, vegetation,
and time charts). Included is a manuscript, "Settlement and Geography of
Europe". The materials are not dated, with the exception of work related
to the settlement and population course.
The collection consists of one series arranged alphabetically by subject. Eighteen oversized maps and charts of the United States and the world were removed and placed in the map cabinet by accession number.
