Provenance: The Lucy Repass McPherson Scrapbook Collection was donated to the University Archives on August 13, 1986 by Mrs. Lucy McPherson.

Access: The collection was opened to researchers on December 2, 1992.

Processing Information: M.Gates, L.Yeary, and S.Schwartz completed processing the collection in 1992.

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Lucy Repass graduated from East Tennessee State College Training School in 1951 and attended East Tennessee State College between 1952 and 1955, graduating with a bachelors degree in home economics in 1955 and married John T. McPherson.

In 1980 Lucy McPherson was hired as the business development officer for Johnson City's First Federal Savings and Loan Association. She returned to East Tennessee State University in 1986 as the catering coordinator for Dobbs Food Service and retired in 1990. She currently lives in Johnson City, Tennessee.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The Lucy Repass McPherson Collection consists of three scrapbooks. Two scrapbooks contain newsclippings, event programs, photographs, greeting cards, and memorabilia documenting Lucy Repass' activities as a student, cheerleader, and vice-president of Pi Sigma while enrolled at East Tennessee State College and its training school between 1949 and 1955. The third scrapbook contains newsclippings, pamphlets, event programs, wedding and graduation announcements, paper dolls, and memorabilia compiled by Grace Repass, mother of Lucy Repass. The material documents Grace Repass' activities while a member of the Eastern Star and her daughter's wedding and graduation.

The scrapbooks are organized in three boxes. The pages to the Grace Repass scrapbook and the first Lucy Repass scrapbook have been placed in folders with unattached items found with each page. Folders are arranged sequentially by scrapbook page number. The loose materials found in the second Lucy Repass scrapbook have been placed at the end of box three.
