ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION
Provenance: The Abrahms Family Photographs and Correspondence were found by Martha Lewis Hampton, Johnson City, Tennessee, in the attic of Virginia Abrahms' house in Rogersville, Tennessee, shortly after Abrahms' death in 1979. Hampton donated the material to the Archives on April 17, 1985.
Access: The collection is open for research.
Processing Information: Marie Tedesco, and Tim Cook completed processing and the collection was opened for research in May, 1987.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
Contained in the collection are 202 black and white photographs of Abrahms family members and friends. The photos probably date from the late nineteenth century through the 1930s or 1940s. Most of the subjects depicted in the photographs are not identified. Also included in the collection are three pieces of correspondence, dated November 12, 1886, October 21, 1924 and January 13, 1940. Although the author and recipients of the letters are identified, it is not clear what their relationship was to one another. Also included in the Abrahms materials are one cold remedy and four 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" black and white negatives.
Organization: All the Abrahms materials have been kept in one series. The photographs are categorized by subject and arranged alphabetically. The correspondence, cold remedy and negatives have been placed after the photographs.
