AUDIO-VISUAL INDEXES TO BURTON-MANNING COLLECTION

The Speaker/ Performer Index and the subject index have been combined.  The Speaker/Performer lists the names of persons recorded as interviewees or performers. The Subject Index consists of subjects references, which include a series of folklore subjects classifications developed by Thomas Burton and Ambrose Manning and supplemented by Richard Blaustein. The Songs/Classification Index includes a listing of song titles as well as listings (where appropriate), under standard ballad classifications.

Each  index is comprised of a reference term followed by tape locations: BM = Burton-Manning audio tape and BMV = Burton Manning video tape; tape number 37A (tape thirty-seven A), 37B (Tape 37B); side number = i (one), ii(two). For references to papers in the collection, the reference term is followed by a box number then folder number 10-15 (Box 10, folder 15).
