HISTORICAL NOTE
The Hotel Pardue was built in 1909 by Wilson Pardue and was located in downtown Johnson City, Tennessee. In 1912 the name was changed to the Hotel Windsor. The hotel remained in its heyday until 1925, and it was considered to be the most complete hotel in Johnson City. Hotel Windsor was within easy walking distance of the three railroad passenger stations. The proprietor of the Hotel Windsor in its early years was William F. Green. The building was razed in 1971.
SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE
The Hotel Windsor Collection contains 21 dated sign lay outs on which are recorded their specific locations and dates of placement; correspondence; a list of sign locations; a floor plan of the hotel; a hand drawn map of Johnson City; a piece of stationery; a room rate sign from Room 307 listing the Tennessee Code of Compliance; and a yearly income report of the hotel. The dates of the folder span from 1937-1954. The material is arranged chronologically in a single file folder.
