Provenance: The 14 black and white photographs of Kingsport were donated to the Archives of Appalachia by Kyle Huddle of Kingsport, Tennessee, in May 1987.

Access: The collection is open for research.

Proccessing Information: The collection was processed by Marie Tedescoand Georgia Greer in October 1989.

HISTORICAL NOTE

Kyle Huddle was founder and president of the Tri-Cities Television Cable Corporation of Kingsport. Founded in 1953, the cable company offered monthly television service on a rental basis to hundreds of homes in the Kingsport area. Those homes "on the cable" received Asheville and Charlotte, North Carolina, and Greeneville, South Carolina stations in addition to the two area stations. The company also offered a high fidelity and stereo music service. Huddle sold the Tri-Cities Television Cable Corporation to Warner Communications in 1966.

Huddle was also president of Huddle Electric Incorporated which sold household appliances.

The 14 black and white photographs depict industry, churches and civic leaders of Kingsport, Tennessee.
