This undated photograph from the Davis collection shows a forest with company tracks running through it. If you look closely enough, you will notice that the tracks are made entirely of wood; it was quicker and cheaper to build the tracks out of wood, and after the company was finished with the area, it was also possible to remove the tracks and put them in a new place when more forestland was acquired.
