George Evan Davis Photographs, acc.90, APA 695

This undated photograph from the Davis Photographs shows a scout standing next to a large tree in a forest that has not been toouched with a commercial axe. There is one stump in the the picture, just to the left and in front of the scout, but this tree is too small to have been cut for commercial use. As you can see in the photo, there are several other good lumbering trees in this section of the woods, and they were probably cleared within one year of the taking of this photograph.
