This
photograph from the early 1930s shows the grounds of Big Branch Camp, which
moved around the forests near Big Branch Creek in Dickenson County, Virginia.
It is easy to see that the structures in the picture (with the exception of
the fence) are very temporary and not very sturdy, as they are resting on stilts
above the ground. Also note the proximity of the shanties to one another.
