This
photograph, taken in 1927, shows the class of students at the Fremont School
in Fremont, Dickenson County, Virginia. Fremont was one of the permanent communities
in the area, and many of the loggers' families would stay in these communities
when the students were of school age, while the loggers stayed in the mobile
camps. As you can see, the students range in age from about 5-18.
