Evan Davis Collection, acc.90, no number
This
unnumbered photograph from the Davis Collection shows sawmill crew loading a
large log onto the conveyer from the log pond. The man positioned second from
the left is holding a pointed stick, which was used on the floating walkways
(which can be seen behind the men to the left of the logs in the pond) to guide
the logs through the water. After the wet logs were sawed, the lumber was stacked
outside the mill to dry.
