Collections

The Archives of Appalachia collects and preserves records documenting the rich cultural, economic, historic, political, and social life in southern Appalachia. The three major collecting areas below contain approximately 9,000 books, 700 collections, a quarter-million photographs, 28,000 sound recordings, and 6,000 moving-image forms.

Appalachian Collections: collections of manuscripts, photographs, sound, and moving-image recordings of southern Appalachia. Special Collections: books and other published materials that support research on southern Appalachia. University Archives: official records of East Tennessee State University and historical collections of papers, photographs, and media about the University.
