Directions to Johnson City

Located in the northeast corner of Tennessee, Johnson City is one of three cities in the Tri-Cities area, which includes Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol. Johnson City is about 100 miles east of Knoxville. A regional airport serves the Tri-Cities.

Interstate: I-81 and I-181
Highway: US 11E/321 and 19W/23

Directions to East Tennessee State University

The University is located in southwest Johnson City near Interstate 181 and US 11E.
From I-181, take exit 31. Go west on Route 67/University Parkway toward East Tennessee State University. Remain on University Parkway until you reach the east entrance to the campus. If traveling east on US 11E, turn right on State of Franklin Road, continue until you reach the north entrance to the campus.

Directions to Archives of Appalachia

The Archives of Appalachia is located on the fourth floor of Sherrod Library. From the State of Franklin Road entrance, turn on Lake Street and then turn right at Stout Drive. Stout Drive will end at a parking area in front of Sherrod Library. From the University Parkway entrance, turn at Stout Drive and proceed west to the parking area near the Library.
