James H. Quillen Collection

James H. Quillen was the longest continuously serving congressman in Tennessee's political history. He represented the First Congressional District from 1963 to 1997. Quillen was an especially strong supporter of East Tennessee State University and its medical school, which is named in his honor. His papers, donated to ETSU in 1996, document the political, social, educational, and economic development of the region, state, and nation during the last half of the 20th century.
