Archives of Appalachia

Special Collections

Special Collections is a permanent collection of books and other printed materials that support research on southern Appalachia. It includes contemporary and out-of-print titles, with special emphasis on regional history, social reform, economic development, folklore, and culture. Also included are titles on the environment, politics, religion, and literature. Personal libraries of such individuals as former Congressman B. Carroll Reece, Appalachian linguist Joseph Sargent Hall, and educator David Mielke are also housed in Special Collections.
