Guidelines for Submission

For fullest and quickest consideration for POETS:

• Submit no more than five poems at a time. Poetry must also relate to the theme.
• Include a brief statement of the regional tie-in and your work’s pertinence to the theme.
• Though we prefer first publication rights on work, we do accept reprints and simultaneous submissions. You need to supply us with signed reprint permission and inform us of other publications considering the work. Acceptance and publication in another Appalachian-focused publication does preclude its use in Now & Then.
• Include an e-mail and regular mailing address and phone numbers, along with the best times to call, so we can reach you easily.
• If you want unsolicited poetry returned, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with adequate postage.
• Because Now & Then is part of a nonprofit, educational initiative, payment is modest, generally in the form of a small honorarium and complimentary copies. Bylines and brief writer/contributor bios are given.
