Learn about Scottish folklore and history, storytelling and literature, music and the arts. Attend lectures, discussions, and performances by outstanding Scottish professors, musicians, and storytellers. Experience the cultural offerings of Glasgow. Take field trips to the Isle of Skye, the Highlands, and Robert Burns country.

ITINERARY
July 9-14—on-line instruction
July 15—depart Johnson City for Scotland
July 16-21—Dumfries: U. of Glasgow Crichton.  Instructors: Dr. Valentina Bold and Dr. Ted Cowan.  History, folklife, and literature of the Scottish Borders.  Field trips to Robert Burns sites; Hadrian’s Wall; Sir Walter Scott sites.
July 22-26—Edinburgh: U. of Edinburgh residence halls.  Instructor: Dr. Margaret Bennett.  Scottish folklife.  School of Scottish Studies Archives.
July 27-29—Isle of Skye, Gaelic College.  The folklife and history of the Highlands and Islands.  Instructor: Dr. Margaret Bennett
July 29-31—Morar Hotel, Mallaig.  The folklife and history of the Highlands and Islands, continued. Instructor: Dr. Margaret Bennett
Aug. 1-4—Glasgow, U. of Glasgow residence halls.  Scotland’s industrial heritage; Glasgow’s major art museums; Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama’s traditional Scottish music program.  Instructors: Dr. Margaret Bennett; Ally Bell.
Aug. 5—depart Glasgow for Johnson City

Aug. 6-10—on-line instruction

HOW MUCH
$3,500 includes all expenses except ETSU tuition and meals.
Deadline for registering & $500 deposit is January 31, 2007
Balance of $3,000 due March 31, 2007.
