The Archives of Appalachia provides reference assistance, duplication services, and a loan program for educational media and selected audio-visual materials. These services are described briefly below. For a full description of our services and fees, click on Access Services and Fees Policy.

We encourage you to Ask an Archivist if you have questions or need further information. Service requests are processed when forms and fees are received.

REFERENCE


There is no fee for using the Archives on site. We are happy to help you locate materials pertinent to your research. Copies are 10 cents per page.

The Archives provides distance reference service by telephone, mail, or e-mail. There is a minimum $10.00 reference fee applied to distance requests. This fee covers up to one hour of staff time and up to 10 pages of photocopied material. Additional copies cost 25 cents each.




DUPLICATION SERVICES


Within the limits described in our Access Services and Fees Policy, the Archives provides duplication services. Copies can be provided for most formats found in our collections.  To place an order, consult our Policy for information regarding formats and fees, complete the Request for Duplication Form and send it with your payment to the Archives.




LOANS


Selected audio-visual materials may be borrowed for up to one month. There is a $5.00 fee per audio recording and $8.00 fee per video recording. For large orders, shipping charges will be applied. There is no fee for recordings picked up in person. To place an order, please complete the Audio-Visual Loan Form and send it with your payment to the Archives.
