Public Performance Scholarship

The Public Performance Scholarship is for new full-time students from out-of-state and can be applied for prior to acceptance by ETSU. Currently, ten of these scholarships are awarded to eligible students with the requisite musical skills. Being awarded this scholarship allows an out-of-state student to enroll without the usual additional tuition for non-residents of Tennessee. In turn, the student commits to active participation in public performances, as agreed upon with the faculty of the Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Program. The value of this scholarship has been $4500 per semester.

Anyone interested in applying for any of these scholarships should send a cassette tape or CD with three songs or tunes featuring his/her playing and/or singing. This should be accompanied by a one-page summary of the student's experience with bluegrass and/or country music to date, and what he/she would like to achieve musically in the future.
