What does it take to preserve local history and memory through material culture? How do small non-profit museums financially survive in the wake of the recession and continually re-establish their relevance for local communities? The Museum at Mountain Home provides a superb training ground for developing evolving answers to these questions and many more. Topics covered include: designing exhibits, providing guided tours, preserving artifacts, developing research files, understanding fundraising strategies, and basic non-profit business management. Students will design individual projects geared towards creating digital content for both the museum's website, as well as for its proposed Facebook page.
