Historic Preservation

The Historic Preservation Field Experience will immerse students in the daily work of a historic preservation professional. Hands-on and field based experiences will provide students with skills to analyze and identify historic architectural styles, preservation techniques for caring for historic resources, and modern strategies used in reuse of historic structures. The field experience will highlight preservation successes and challenges in some of Northeast Tennessee's most historic urban and rural areas. The experience is led by Justin D. Sanders, a historic preservation advocate and urban planner, whose career has included staff and volunteer positions with numerous regional preservation groups, the Tennessee Preservation Trust, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
